So here we are in a new year AGAIN. And a strong emphasis on again, because some of you are thinking the same thing as me. Am I going to try to set new goals...again? Am I going to try to lose weight...again? Am I going to expand my art creatively in a new direction...again? Am I going to try to live more relaxed with less worry...again? And the list of agains go on and on. Again and again.
We start off each year with the same brilliant plans and positive feelings only to make it one or two months before we give up. I'm talking about myself here, not just you. It's hard to live an inspired life with strong disciplines that push us forward with growth. It's just not easy.
Right now, I'm reading a book called "Before happiness". Because, of course, we always start off the year with that motivating non-fiction read...again. However, I'm encouraged because inside there's a great section of research on how negatives have more strength and can outway positivity easily. The author basically says we need a higher positive ratio. In fact, statistically if we have 3 to 1 positives to negatives our success and happiness levels rise. In relationships we need 5 to 1 ratio. That means if you say a negative comment to your spouse, you better buy 5 bouquets of flowers, not 1. He goes on in much more detail and I encourage you to read it.
My point, before we start AGAIN on all of our hopes and dreams of the year, is let's be realistic in understanding we must have a positive ratio. And so I want to start you off with some positive images in my Good Vibes series. Enjoy! And rock your year. Here's to next year, no agains.
