I've just finished five reclaimed wood backgrounds. Next step, they're gonna get mix media'd. Here's a sneak peak of them:

I miss the freaking beach. Here is my latest piece. I thought by continuing to create these beach scenes I would escape there and be fulfilled. However, I think it's driving me even more crazy. Sometimes while I'm in the studio I can smell the salty sea air, sun tan lotion, pina colada, and the many other atmospheric ingredients that make up the best potpourri ever. Then I'm back here in the middle of one of the largest states, Texas! Usually, I travel twice a year to the beach. Springtime in Florida. Summer time in Maine or some other beach excursion. But this year we are too busy to go anywhere and I am feeling like a rowdy teenager itching for spring break. I've even considered how I could just move to a beach, but it's very improbable. Anyhow, all that to say, enjoy my most recent mixed media piece. Anyone who goes to the beach enough knows this "perfect day" I am trying to recreate. It's the drive, the music, the smells, the anticipation just before you actually arrive. Here is a studio shot after I made the background. This is new wood that I antiqued and stained: Final ProductBackside |
